Hello !
For those of you reading this, I'm the person behind the mod "The War of the Houses (Lotharingia)". I'd like to thank the person who contacted me on ModDB to invite me to this forum !
This message is intended to inform you about the latest advances on the mod and what we want to do to improve the mod. But this message is also intended to answer your questions if you have any, of course !
"First of all, I'd like to give you a brief overview of the mod. In this mod, you won't be playing a nation, a people or a kingdom, as most mods do. In this mod, you'll be playing a House! In other words, a noble family that owned principalities such as seigneuries, counties or duchies, for example".
"The campaign begins as in the base game, in the year 1080. Unlike the base game, however, the game does not take place in the same geographical area. The map includes the current regions: Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, northern France, western Germany and south-eastern England. In this mod, as the head of the House you play, you will have to make your family more powerful than the other families, in particular by taking charge of the various principalities on the map, which are represented as regions. By building alliances and expanding your possessions, your family will be able to compete with other houses to become the most powerful".
As you can already see from the latest version, which was released in December 2022, we've already modified the campaign map, added a large number of factions, added loading screens, added new events in the form of historical sheets to tell you about the history of the region and the global history of the Middle Ages, each faction has a historical family tree, and added titles of nobility.
However, we still have a lot of work to do on this mod. As you can see, we need to improve the mod's visuals to make it stand out from the vanilla version of the game, add units specific to each faction, improve the papal system, improve the crusade and jihad system, which will be used to conquer the Holy Roman Empire in one case and to expand the kingdom of France in the other, and set up a script to change the culture of the factions in BeNeLux (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg).
We're trying to find possible scripts to add to the mod and make the campaign more dynamic, and we plan to rework the campaign map (this project is ongoing).
If you have any questions, opinions or even feedback, I look forward to hearing from you!
